My nickname comes from my name, Fernando. I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and I was born in 78. I'm currently studying and working. I have a big passion for cinema (see the list of films I've seen below), some tv series and rock music in general. In this blog I write mainly about my useless thoughts, likes and dislikes and my pathetic life. Nothing very interesting, really!

Worst time of year

The worst time of year (for me) has arrived: Carnival. The only good thing about it is that I all of my friends are free. So we can all gather and have some fun. Yesterday I went to a friends house, we ate, drank and talked for a few hours. Later today there will be a barbecue at another friend's house with loads of people there, so it should be fun. I also went to the beach this morning, and I actually don't remember the last time I went to the beach. And now I have to think about other stuffs to do since Carnival won't end till Wednesday. What a hard life! *insert tongue smilie in here*

Well, so you now must be thinking why Carnival is, for me, the worst time of year, right? I don't think there's a logical explanation for that....

Vista

I got the Windows Vista installation cd and put it on my desk. I was staring at it for a few hours, having big doubts wether to install it or not. Then I simply thought: wtf, why not? So I started the upgrade process, it said it could take several hours. And it took! It took the longest 6 hours of my life (for you to have an idea it takes a bit more than 5 hours to go to São Paulo by car). Anyway, the upgrading process was complete. Win Vista is so cute but so damn heavy. For a moment I thought it was the dumbest thing having installed it, but the shit was done, you know what I mean? Well, I disabled a few things here and there (like the side bar for example), cleaned the hd a little bit as well as my desktop and things are good now, not great but good. My pc still suffers a little bit to run it and that's why I've just ordered another 512mb memory card (I currently have 768mb) on ebay. Hopefully it will arrive soon. I'm also thinking of buying a better processor, but this can wait a bit longer, I think.

Dumbest Conversation ever

- "So, where is Los Angeles?"
- "Well, last I heard it's still in California"
- "Oh, ok..."
- "Hmmm.... What's California anyway?"
- "It's a State."
- "But if California is a State, what is the United Sates?"
- "A country."
- "Like Enlgand, for example? Oh, wait... Is England a Country or a State too?"
- "It's another Country. And it's in Europe, a totally different continent."
- "Ok, I guess I got it. Just one more question: What's Hollywood? Is it also a State?"

Well, It was really difficult to keep the conversation going without losing my maners, you know what I mean? 'kin dumb creature!

This is just for you to have an idea of what kind of people I have to deal with every Saturday afternoon. Well, at least the people I deal with on Saturday mornings are totally the opposite: interesting, intelligent and funny. Thanks God!

New look

I've made this new look in less than 20 minutes, I hope you liked it in the same way as I did.

The logo is a very simple collage, which I'll probably be changing in a newer future. The thing is that I liked the idea of putting photos of me playing bass, but these are the only photos I have at the moment. So If by any chances I find more, or take new ones, I'll choose the best ones in order to make a better/bigger collage.

As for the black colour, let's say it's the colour that suits my current mood better. I got tired of the white/shiny/colourful bullshits. Let's try dark for a while. Actually dark colours have always been familiar to me.

Oh btw, I still tend to spot the wrong girls. Remember the girl I mentioned 2 posts ago? Well, you can imagine...

I wish

My big wish right now is to have a laptop. I can't afford one at the moment (probably never will be), fact which does not make me want it less. As time goes by I want more and more...

What is making things worse is that I've got friends who already have one and as I see them using it, the following thought doesn't live my mind: "Damn! Why I'm the only who still haven't got one of those? Why?"

I thought about eBay since I have paypal credits, but the s&h would be too expensive. I also thought of "Mercado Livre" (Brazilian ebay), but prices are pretty much the same as in real shops and the do not offer any payment advantages at all. And I'm not willing to buy an used one, only and if only I knew the person who I was buying it from.

Could I sell my desktop? Yes, I could. But I won't. I need it for heavey stuff (which most of them is crap, but I do care about my crap) and even if I sold my desktop, the money wouldn't be enough to buy a new laptop. At least THE laptop I want. And no, I'm not being very demanding. I jus want a new/good laptot with average speed and loads of ram memory in it because I tend to open several heavy softwares (and not use a single one), watch films, talk on msn and browse the net, all at the same time. The physical space is the least importante, simply because it would not be a problem since I would be keeping my desktop. And the 2 computer would be connected through a simple wireless network.

Simple as that. But still...
